Queer Based Media Studios is a new multi-use film and photography shooting space located in Chinatown, owned and operated by Queer and Trans people. The 1200sqft* space contains 2 seamless photo walls (one white, one pink), a black drywall backdrop with black concrete floor, and a long shooting area with real exposed stone and brick. Other features include:

  • Wireless Internet

  • Large industrial sink with hot water

  • Mirrored Vanity

  • Wardrobe/change room

  • Lighting/Grip equipment

  • Camera equipment available for rent

  • Living room/green room space

  • Washroom available

The building is inaccessible for wheelchair access, located in the basement of a building at the corner of Pender and Carrall. Entrance is off of Pender, up 2 flights of stairs, through a shared studio space, and down 3 flights into the basement. There is a loading bay through the alley behind the building available, that is 1 flight of stairs up from the basement.

Loud noise is allowed at this location, and due to other tenants in the building it is not an ideal spot to record sound. Tenants are in the building at all hours and there is consistent noise heard from throughout the building.

Pets are also allowed, along with alcohol, food and drink. There is no smoking inside the building.

A site manager/liaison will be on location to assist with any questions or concerns, and to let you into and out of the building. They will mandatorily remain on site at all times during the rental.
